"Walk Zone" and "Choice" Explanation

 

Each school has a dedicated "Walk Zone". This area is usually a one-mile radius of "as the crow flies". This measurement method was established by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and is used to determine the Walk Zone in all school districts in the State of Washington. Some schools may have adjusted Walk Zones to prevent students from having to cross a busier road. (RCW 28a.160.160)

 

 

 

A "Choice" student is a student who resides within one school boundary, but elects to attend school outside their boundary. Transportation services are not provided for students who choose to attend a school that is outside of their registered address boundary per CVSD policies.
